Just To Make Your Head Bob...Like Hope

Since we should all be gettin our plans finalized for tonite (as we are).. we thought we'd give you little sumthin to dance to (pre rage waarm up or sumthin).. and who better to dance to than "the world's greatest party band" The B-52'S.. Enjoy!! Have a safe night..

"Rock Lobster" is The B-52's' first single, released in 1978 and in a longer version placed on the band's self-titled debut album, The B-52's, one year later.
The song "Rock Lobster" is part of the The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list. "Rock Lobster" also appears at number 146 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of greatest songs.

Some have said "despite the song's self-consciously weird texture and silly lyrics about earlobes falling off and communal towel coordination, there's a thread of darkness weaving through it. Make no mistake: this is not a song with hidden meaning lurking below the surface. But its surface is a little more complicated than it seems to be at first."

Planet Claire, also off of their self-titled debut album is just as amazing as "Rock Lobster" but maybe hasn't received the praise it should.. How 'bout we start praisin it now..

Thunders' Thursdays'

In honor of his screeching, penetrating guitar sound, we here at GRN have decided to dedicate today to the one and only Mr. Johnny Thunders. Why, you ask well let the videos speak for themselves... and if you have to ask why.. well.. use your imaginations for what we think about you.. for we don't wanna offend anyone...alright..we'll just say do your research...

"Looking For a Kiss" off of New York Dolls First self Titled album. A very lyrically intelligent album that addresses controversial issues like the Vietnam War, mental health and other social issues of the time.

"Born Too Loose" (Born to Lose) off the Heartbreakers L.A.M.F., a highly praised album, although the mixing was condemned. L.A.M.F. is a punk classic that documents the important bridge between the U.S. and U.K punk scenes.

On January 4th, 1987, core New York Dolls members Johnny Thunders, Arthur "Killer" Kane, and Jerry Nolan and guitarist Barry Jones {London Cowboys} performed an informal reunion at the Roxy in LA. Gotta have this one!!

"Sad Vacation" off of Johnny's Solo album Hurt Me. this is Johnny as a folk artist. This is all acoustic, all johnny. It'll put you in a mellow mood.

The only question now is Who Killed Johnny Thunders?!?!?!??

From geometric paintings to super '60s films, "Wack!" offers plenty of conceptual entertainment.
This massive exhibition explores feminist themes through collage, painting, video, sculpture, text, photography and installation. The heavier works deal with violence against women and raging gender politics, while other pieces like the C*nt Coloring Book offer a more ribald, humorous perspective. In addition to showcasing famous artists such as Yoko Ono, Ana Mendieta and Cindy Sherman, "Wack!" explores a plethora of underground talents.

HUSH HUSH was started by producer/djs YOUNG AMERICANS as a monthly DIY house party in echo park at the HUSH HUSH House with Resident DJs YOUNG AMERICANS and THE ROYAL RUMBLE. After 4 mindblowing parties the HUSH HUSH boys faced an eviction notice and death threats unless they would agree to stop having the best parties of all time. Thus, the House was forced to close its doors and find a new spot to get down. Then, after doing a bunch of parties @ Cinespace in Hollywood HUSH HUSH moved once again and will probably keep moving. But one thing will always be the same and that is that if its HUSH HUSH you know the party will be bangin'.

today is SUNDAY:

Ask the average Los Angeles socialite what he or she will be doing on a Sunday afternoon and the answer you receive might not be very interesting. Perhaps vegging-out in front of the television or nursing a hangover from a wild Saturday night out. This was not the case, however, in the summer of 2005 when Sunday afternoons were made memorable at a little cabana-styled Hollywood getaway named Cranes Tavern. Respected members of the Los Angeles music scene, Chris Haycock and Jaime Strong, teamed up to bring meaning to Sunday afternoons with an unforgettable party playfully named Do-Over (Do your weekend all over). Haycock and Strong invited emcee Aloe Blacc to host the event and history was made.

Week after week, Do-Over grew to become a pleasure-full habit to a family of dedicated Sunday afternoon patrons. It became a regular hang out for the who's who of the LA scene, people looking for a good time from all walks, as well as desired venue for well-known deejays to share a mix. The element of surprise drove more and more people to this Sunday soiree just to see what guest deejay would grace the patio. There was something very special about this event and everyone wanted to be part of it. With very little promotion, relying mainly on word of mouth and throngs of dedicated patrons, Cranes Tavern often reached capacity early, leaving a line of folks outside patiently waiting to enter. Initially intended to run only from 2pm-9pm, Do-Over's overwhelming popularity consistently forced it to continue beyond scheduled

Robert Williams Vans Shoe Release Party

Vans has reeled in the seminal figure in the "lowbrow" art movement, Robert Williams, to design a number of shoes for the VAULT collection. Williams' career spans the likes of studio directing for Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, album cover design for GNR's Appetite for Destruction and the founding of Juxtapoz magazine. That barely scratches the surface of what he has created and influenced.

This is Mr. Williams Himself..Good lookin ole' chap ain't he.

With the knowledge and skill earned by producing and performing music of several genres since 2002, Casio has created a unique style and sound that transcends the gap between indie rock, dirty electro, and countless samples from our parent's record collections

Known for his crowd pleasing excitement, casio's dj sets are a local favorite, known for working up dancefloors into sweaty orgies of pimp colored sneakers and smiling faces.

THEM JEANS
Jason Stewart has spent five years establishing himself as one of Los Angeles' most talented and respected upstart promoters. Taking a far more organic approach than most in the field, Stewart builds a party from the ground upnad his work ethic often pays rich dividends, with Spin Magazine calling his Tuesday Nights at Cinespace event one of America's Best Parties. This often means handling graphic design work on all promotional materials, coordinating sponsorship and talent booking, and, for the last three years, providing the music. Under the nom de disque "Them Jeans," Stewart has DJ'ed some of Los Angeles' most exclusive venues, as well as some of it's wildest parties. With musical tastes spanning from hardcore punk to dancefloor-friendly hip-hop, post-rock to ambient electronic, "Them Jeans" never fails to deliver a set with the perfect mood for the gathering. With a slate of DJ gigs booked into the next few years, continued work coordinating events for Cinespace, and graphic design requests pouring in from both corporate and casual clients, Jason Stewart is sure to be a major force in pop culture for years to come.
