Mark Felt a longtime friend of GRN owner Luis just released a book on April 7th called (up)Rising Sonz! which highlights the cultural impact and continuing reciprocal influences of skateboarding from east to west. After only reading the intro and flipping through this book I want to get a copy of my own. you also can get your own copy at:
GRN apple tree hosted a movie screening this past Friday to showcase a movie called Control about a band called Joy Division and I'd have to say if you weren't a listener before seeing the movie you most definitely were after. The movie is based on the book Touching from a Distance and is about the lead singer, Ian Curtis. It was a pretty tragic story but without the struggle the music would probably not exist.
It was held in the GRN warehouse where the guests sat in lawn chairs and watched the movie projected onto a screen while snacking on popcorn and sippin on... well... whatever it was that they were sippin on.
heading in to watch Control

Joy Division was played while guests set up chairs and waited for the movie to begin
